Online and semi-online classes banned in all private schools in Delhi during summer vacations
The education department of the Delhi government has ordered all private schools in Delhi to suspend online or semi-online teaching and learning activities for the duration of summer vacation which has been declared in all government and private schools of Delhi from April 20 to June 9. The education department was informed that despite the announcement of summer vacation, many private schools are running regular online classes in the name of physical classroom learning without any break. This order has been issued after this information came to light. A circular has been issued by the Delhi government to all private schools to this effect.

What does the circular from the Delhi government state?

The circular states that in view of the current status of Covid-19, an order was issued to reschedule summer vacations in Delhi, under which summer vacations were declared from April 20 to June 9. Along with this, another order was issued to suspend online and semi-online teaching and learning activity in all schools of Delhi government. In view of the regular online learning activities being continued in spite of summer vacations by many private schools, it has been directed that online and semi-online teaching and learning activities in all private schools of Delhi, like government schools, are suspended for the duration of summer vacations. However, without calling the students physically to school, all the schools can do special activities related to summer holidays, such as activities for creativity, happiness, and overall social and emotional well-being, and remedial classes. It also states that the teaching staff who have been continuing online mode teaching needed a much-deserved break. It also acted as a reminder for the purpose of the summer holidays, which was to break the monotony of studies and pursue new skills and hobbies. “In the present circumstances due to Covid-19 and the context explained above, it is all the more important that the intent of summer vacation is realised not just in letter but in spirit too,” the circular states.
